Bananas Musa accuminata

Bananas are a delicious fruit native to the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia . They are a fast growing plant with soft tissue that reproduces by underground stems. It is important to keep the plants protected from frost where fruit production in desired. Where the trees are to be grown as ornamentals frost may kill plants, but they will sprout up again next spring. Bananas should be planted on a south or southwest exposure to get maximum light and heat. Bananas also need heavy feeding, good soil and ample amounts of moisture. Selections of Bananas are divided into cooking Bananas and dessert Bananas. Most of the selections we grow are suitable for home gardens because they mature to a smaller size, from 8-14' high. What follows are descriptions of the selections we sell.
