Mulberry (fruiting white and black) Morus alba and nigra
Mulberries are deciduous trees that have origins in central and eastern China . These large trees produce delicious fruit in the fall. Fruit is very tender, making it unsuitable for commercial production, but it is perfect for making jams and eating fresh at home. Trees are tolerant of a wide range of soils and growing conditions. What follows are descriptions of the selections we sell.
' Pakistan ' - The fruit of this selection is ruby red in color and measures 2-4" in length. Flesh is firmer than most varieties with a sweet flavor. Tree does exceptionally well in mild winter areas of the country. This selection ripens March to June.
'White' - The fruit of this selection is white to light pink in color and measures ½ to 1" in length. Flesh is very sweet with no acidity. Because the fruit of this selection are pure white they will not stain. This selection ripens in June to July.
'Persian' - The Large, black fruit of this tree can measure up to 1' in length. Flesh is slightly acidic tasting. This selection ripens June to August.
