Betula 'Crimson Frost' CRIMSON FROST BIRCH
Brilliant, burgundy colored leaves make this selection spectacular. This deciduous tree can reach 30' high and normal has a spread of about 20'. Leaves measure 2-3 inches long and are burgundy colored throughout the year. Bark peels of the trunk in sheets leaving a bleach white trunk behind. Branches are black to dark purple in color and look nice against the white trunk. A cross of Betula platyphylla 'szechuanica' X B. pendula purpurea resulted in this selection. This tree is tolerant of heavy, alkaline soils and has shown to be somewhat borer resistant. USDA: 4-8 Sunset: 1-12, 14-24

Betula nigra RIVER BIRCH
An attractive Birch that does well when planted in lawns. This deciduous tree can reach 70-80' high with a spread of 50'. Glossy green leaves are diamond shaped and measure 2-3 inches long. Picturesque bark flakes off of the trunk during the growing season. Tree is native to stream areas of eastern U. S. and does well when planted in lawns where supplemental moisture is present. Betula nigra 'Heritage' HERITAGE BIRCH
A great selection prized for its flaking dark brown to black bark, which peels from the trunk even at an early age. A fast growing, deciduous tree that generally reaches 50' high and has a spread of 40'. Diamond-shaped, 2-3 inch long leaves are darker than those of a standard birch and give way to inch long cone-like fruits. USDA: 4-8 Sunset 1-24, 26, 28-43

Betula pendula EUROPEAN WHITE BIRCH
The most popular Birch valued for its peeling white bark and lacy, weeping foliage. This deciduous tree can reach 40' tall and has a spread near 25'. Leaves are diamond shape and measure 2 inches long. As the tree matures the bark becomes white in color and flakes off of the trunk. Tree is propagated by seed so form varies. Betula pendula 'Youngii' YOUNG'S WEEPING BIRCH
A great selection with a dome shaped crown and branches that hang straight down. Young's Weeping Birch is deciduous by nature and can reach 10-15' high with a 6' spread. Leaves measure 2-3 inches long and have a serrated edge. The form of this selection is extremely weeping and quite impressive. A great small tree. USDA: 3-7 Sunset: 1-12, 14-24, 30-45

The narrow form of this selection makes it well suited for a smaller space. This Birch is deciduous and reaches 35' high with a spread around 12'. Leaves are diamond-shaped and measure 1-2 inches long. Bark is white and peels from the trunk. This selection has resistance to bronze birch borers and good resistance to leaf miners. Betula utilis jacquemontii JACQUEMONTI BIRCH
The striking, bleach white bark of this Birch is breathtaking. This is a deciduous tree that usually reaches 40' high eventually having an equal spread. Ovate leaves measure 2-3 inches long and are glossy green in color. Bark is white and peals in sheets as the trunk increases in size. Tree has some resistance to leaf miners.
