Chaenomeles speciosa FLOWERING QUINCE
Flowering Quince is one of the first plants to bloom each year. This is a deciduous shrub that reaches 8' high and wide, but can grow much larger with support. Small leaves are tinged red when young later maturing to a glossy green color. Blooms appear in January and come in a wide range of colors from white to red. An extremely tough shrub that is tolerant of heavy soils, and various temperatures. Cut branches with opening buds are great for flower arrangements. USDA: 5-9 Sunset: 2-22, 28-41
