Koelreuteria bipinnata CHINESE FLAME TREE
Summer sprays of bright yellow flowers that turn into colorful red capsules give this tree its name. This moderately growing, deciduous tree can grow to a height of 40' and normally obtains an equal spread. 1-2 foot long pinnate leaves turn yellow for a short time before dropping. Red, orange, or pink colored flowers appear in early summer and are followed by red seed capsules that retain their color for a month or more. This is a very useful street tree. Koelreuteria paniculata GOLDEN RAIN TREE
This is a tough tree that can take heat, cold and wind, but rewards you with beautiful flowers in the summer. Golden Rain Tree is deciduous by nature and can grow up to 30' high with an equal spread. Pinnate leaves measure 1 foot long and emerge having a purplish color turning green as it matures. Foot long yellow flower clusters appear in early summer and are followed by fruit capsules that turn from green to red to brown. Tree can exhibit drought tolerance once established.
