Psidium cattleianum RED STRAWBERRY GUAVA
Interesting leaves, bark and fruit make this tree the focus of attention all year long. This is an evergreen tree that generally grows to 15' high and has an equal spread. Leaves measure 3-5 inches long, are very stiff and are red when new later maturing to a glossy green color. Fragrant flowers can bloom all year in warmer areas, otherwise heaviest bloom occurs with the beginning of warm weather in the spring. Fruit is 2- 3 inches long and is completely edible when soft. Flesh has a slight red cast to it. This is a tropical fruit native to southern Mexico and Central America. USDA: 9-10 Sunset: 9, 14, 15-27
