Sophora japonica JAPANESE PAGODA TREE, CHINESE SCHOLAR TREE
Japanese Pagoda Tree is a large, broad canopy tree that is well suited to provide shade. This deciduous tree reaches 50' high and matures with a similar spread. Pinnate leaves measure 6-10 inches long with 2-3 inch leaflets. Flowers measure 6-12 inches long, are cream colored and appear in summer. Tree is resistant to oak root fungus. Sophora japonica 'Regent' REGENT PAGODA TREE
'Regent' is a large selection with a rapid, uniform growth habit. This is a deciduous tree that grows up to 50' high and has an equal spread. Glossy, pinnate leaves measure 8-10 inches long and are dark green in color. Flowers measure 8-12 inches long, are cream colored and appear in summer. Sophora secundiflora TEXAS MOUNTAIN LAUREL
The sweet scented flowers of this small tree remind one of a very sweet Wisteria. This is an evergreen shrub that normally never grows taller and wider than 20'. Pinnate leaves measure 4-6 inches long and are a glossy, dark green color. Purple colored flowers appear mid-winter to early spring and are scented. This tree does better with heat and alkali soils.
