Ungnadia
Ungnadia speciosa MEXICAN BUCKEYE
The upright branching patter along with the persistent seedpods and the mottled brown bark make this a great tree for the winter landscape. This is a deciduous large shrub or small tree that grows to near 30' in height with a 15' spread. Dark green leaves measure 2-3 inches long and turn golden yellow in the fall. In the spring purple blooms cover the plant. Seedpods are brown, triangular in shape and have poisonous, marble-like seeds within. Tree is extremely drought tolerant and is adapted to a wide range of soils. USDA: 7-9
